Update March 2024

First of all, I really need to apologize for not having updated the blog section in such a long time! I have been quite focused on the game and have primarily shared my progress on X or Reddit!

Nonetheless, the game is still progressing and I am giving my best to advance in development! So what has happened? Well quite a lot actually!



World Building:

  • It took some time but now the entire Sonorous world is blocked out and everything has its place. This was a back-and-forth process to ensure that the gameplay flow and story feel harmonious with distances in the world and providing still enough space for free roam exploration.
  • Multiple elements were developed allowing the player to craft there own base and shelter. These elements can also extend on the water surface as of now.
  • NPC Development

  • I used a considerable amount of time to setup a core structure for my NPCs allowing me to exchange & add various characters and body types. The NPCs have combat abilities, unique animations and ragdoll effects. In advance, my aim is to allow dialogue and interactions between the NPCs making the whole world feel a lot more alive!
  • Environment & Assets

  • Along with the world building, I have been working on new assets to integrate involving new sceneries and assets specific complimenting these.
  • Continued revision of the submarine interior. The interior now features a monitor showing any happenings on the rear of the submarine
  • Working towards the first 30 minutes of gameplay, a dialogue system was integrated and the environment was further developed with new environment asset such as corals, stones and cliffs to add variety and supplement the overall world building.
  • Added multiple TriPlanar Shaders for a more uniform Terrain look.
  • Integrated a dynamic weather system from sunny, cloud, rainy to stormy.
  • Deep Sea

  • A new creature has been added with unique behaviour requiring caution and thoughtful movements from the player.
  • A range of new marine wildlife.
  • What's Next: Many of these building blocks impact one another so there are multiple aspects worked on simultaneously. Even though there is still a lot to do, I feel like Sonorous is progressing nicely and is on track with my original planning! I will continue extending the world and building on the gameplay. There will be a lot of iterations to make everything as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
